"The day a man thinks he’s dying becomes the day, if given a chance, a man starts to really live his life." - Melvin Pierce
My legacy project was conceived during the pandemic of 2020 while I was “bored in the house.” Months of stay-at-home orders provided the determination to finish the music project of my life. God, me, and a few of my talented musician friends improvised in one or two short takes to complete all 14 albums and 2 compilations with 150 smooth jazz songs.
After we finished recording all the music, my life changed. I was rushed to the emergency room and told by the cardiologist that I had 3 blood clots and that if I hadn’t made it to the hospital when I did, I likely would have been dead. I instantly thanked God for His grace and mercy and I prayed for a second chance.
I laid in the critical care unit hooked up to monitors and machines that beep all day and night while nurses and doctors moved in and out the room keeping me from sleeping. Code blues went off in the rooms around me on a regular basis and I began to wonder if I’d be next.
I laid in that bed thinking about my family, my legacy, and my music that I may never get to share with the world. The music in my heart drowned out the deafening sounds around me and provided some semblance of peace. God’s whisper in my ear that this is not my end gave me the strength to block out the noise around me and the courage to focus on my recovery.
Four months later in 2021, after my near-death experience, the smooth jazz music that’s been in my soul and in the works for years became a priority to share with the world. I give all glory to God for blessing me with the gift of life to share my smooth global jazz and make it affordable to everyone! I know that music has the ability to heal the world and I am so grateful for the opportunity to spread some love. So please enjoy my legacy! It’s the music from my heart and my soul.
Special thanks to EVERYONE who contributed their talents throughout my career to help make all my projects a success!!
RIP to Mr. Kwame Ajanaku. I dedicate the song "Goodbye" to you from the "Vibration" album. I speak for myself and many musicians that you created a legacy of Professional Sound Engineers by introducing us to Pro Tools. Because of Kwame I was the 1st Engineer in Georgia to use Pro Tools.
